Leon of Athens returns with new single ‘Aeroplanes’

The Greek singer released his debut record Global, to critical acclaim back in 2014 and after an extensive tour and time away to write his follow-up Leon of Athens is ready to return. The singer-songwriter has released his first song ‘Aeroplane‘, taken from his as-of-yet untitled second album.

There’s a breezy feel to this love song, with rousing guitar lines and the hypnotic layers on his voice. Leon sings of modern love and being swept up in the moment in a video that sees several love stories intertwine. Throughout we see stories of several couples from children to adults on intimate levels in nightclubs, arcades and a heated argument in an apartment, all taking place while Leon sings from a hotel room. The video was directed by Robert Francis Müller.

Leon of Athens has marked his return with a heartwarming track that captures the spirit of love in today’s world with a similar style to George Ezra. The forthcoming album has no release date but is expected sometime later this year. Leon teamed up with David Kosten to produce the record. Kosten has worked with the likes of Everything Everything and Bat For Lashes in the past, putting Leon in good hands.

The first single taken from Leon of Athens upcoming record ‘Aeroplanes‘ is out now to download or stream. Watch the video to ‘Aeroplanes‘ below.
