Metronomy unveil new album and single ‘Old Skool’

Metronomy resurfaced last night when frontman, Joe Mount appeared on Annie Mac’s show for BBC Radio 1 to announce a new album.

The band have been quietly working in the background since 2014’s release Love Letters. Now though, we’ve got a new song to get Metronomy back into our system and new album, Summer 08 to look forward to.

New song ‘Old Skool‘ immediately gives off that classic Metronomy sound, funky vibes and a sense of fun about it. Mount said during an interview with Q Magazine that the song was about ‘not recognising anyone at a party’. Check out the video for the new single below.

Old Skool‘ features DJ, Mix Master Mike, who featured on many of Beastie Boys biggest hits over the years, as he adds a scratch break to the track.

The new album, Summer 08 is set to be released on July 1st, which will be the fifth release from the band. Mount said during his appearance on Annie Mac’s show, that it’s like a sequel to 2008s album Nights Out, claiming it was also “the most fun thing I’ve done in a long time…”

With a new song out and new album on the way, hopefully this means we can see Metronomy make a return to Liverpool in the near future.
