Thumper are in the midst of their debut UK headline tour, celebrating the release of new single, ‘The Loser’.

In the midst of their first headline UK tour, Thumper just dropped their head-pounding single, ‘The Loser’. After spending 2020 writing material for their debut album, the explosive band are now back on the road with a bang. They’ve already hit Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Live at Leeds festival, the latter also featuring Just Mustard.

The Loser’ sees lead singer, Oisin Leahy Furlong go into a self-deprecating state in this pulsating tale where he tries to seduce someone without realising he’s tearing himself apart in the process. He implores on the chorus:

I am loser baby, lose yourself with me, I am a waster baby, waste away with me, I am a moron baby, stick around and you’ll see…

Singing as if it’s something that sounds better in your head but when said out loud, it doesn’t quite fit. Each verse ups another level with angst as the attempts to hype himself up deteriorate rapidly.

Speaking about the new release, Oisin says:

“‘The Loser’ is presented as a love song but is howled by an unreliable narrator. A fishing-for-compliments style tirade of non-sequiturs, each verse is bursting at the seams with faux self-depreciation. The song races along at breakneck speed, each section pushing past the crescendo of the last. As the final chorus blasts through your speakers, the saccharine melody reveals a pathetic character that has spent the whole song talking about themselves.”
