On The Radar: Zeros & Ones
Galway quartet, Zeros & Ones are up On The Radar ahead of the release of their debut single, ‘15 to 1’.
Words by Jack Squibb

Zeros & Ones took a year hiatus after the release of their 2017 EP, Opaline. After time away, the band have got back together and now are set to release their first single, ‘15 to 1’.
The band are stacked with heavy bass lines and tense melodies but ‘15 to 1’ sees them head in a shoegaze direction. The track plays with a fuzzy hook throughout and backed by a snapping beat.
The melody throughout is almost hypnotic but still has an edge to it to keep you alert. It still has those grungey undertones that you can familiarise yourself with the Galway band too from their two EPs.
Supporting them on the track is another Galway native and now Glasgow resident, Lisanne Jacobs, better known as pop singer, Tiny Murder.
‘15 to 1’, is a story of frontman, David McDonagh finding himself in a state of hopelessness and his journey to come out better on the other side.
A message that sometimes you need to go through hardship and sadness to finally be happy. While the first half of the song is McDonagh singing alone, as it enters a more uplifting phase, his and Tiny Murder’s vocals complement each other so well.
It’ll be a welcomed return when the single drops. Zeros & Ones are hitting the road to celebrate the release of the single with shows in Galway, Dublin and Belfast.
The tour dates are as follows:
07/02 – Seven – Galway w/ Bannered Mare & Lizard Queen @ 9 PM
08/02 – Whelan’s – Dublin w/ Minus Ten Thousand Hours @ 11:45 PM
28/02 – The Pavilion – Belfast @ 8 PM
29/02 – Supporting Gavin and Thee Icons – The Underground – Dublin @ 8 PM

‘15 to 1’, the debut single by Zeros & Ones, featuring Tiny Murder is out on Friday 7th January.
