The ‘Racing Rats’ band announced on Thursday morning that they will be releasing a best of album titled Black Gold. Editors also announced that they’ll be celebrating their 15th year together as a band by hitting the road next spring.

The album will consist of 13 of Editors big hits, such as ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’, ‘Bullets’ and ‘Papillon’. Black Gold will also feature three new tracks, including their latest single ‘Frankenstein’, which took fans by storm during the band’s summer shows.

Editors’ forthcoming best-of album will take listeners on a journey from the pulsating indie rock that was experienced on The Black Room and An End Has A Start, to the transitioning to a more experimental and electro sound on their later albums In Dream and Violence.

The new album isn’t a sign of things coming to an end for Editors but a glimpse into the future with new tracks ‘Upside Down’ and title track ‘Black Gold’.

Speaking about the upcoming release, frontman Tom Smith said:

To still be doing this is something I’m very proud of,“ says Smith. “These days longevity might not be seen as cool, but I think it is. We’ve solidified what this new version of the band is, and I think the new songs show that the band are hungry.”

He continued, “we’ve always felt like outsiders, but wanted to write songs that connect with people emotionally, and resonate in a deeper way. That can sound pretentious and contrived, but there are people out there that our band mean a lot to. That’s what I always wanted.”

Along with the announcement, Editors released the title track. Check out ‘Black Gold’ below.
