Croxteth native Chloe Pitchford, is the latest to show up On The Radar, with her latest single ‘New Girl’, out now.
Chloe Pitchford has mostly been floating around the open mic scene across Liverpool. Originally from Croxteth, Pitchford has spent most of her life in Lancashire, returning to Liverpool in 2012 for university and has never left since.
As of last year though, the songstress has started releasing original songs. Opening up about flings and drunken adventures, Pitchford doesn’t hold back with her music.
Her songs have a luscious flow to them, with dreamy hooks and hip-swinging beats like on ‘Horoscopes & Cigarettes’. Singing about killing time with casual sex while relying on the stars to align to find the right person.
Each of Chloe’s songs are smooth and have a fun vibe to them. There’s a blues twinned with pop sound, making them easy to dance along to, while packed with soul. ‘Take You There’ has a warm and feel-good atmosphere to it, as she sings about the joys of falling in love.
Her latest single ‘New Girl’, has darker tones to her previous releases. It sees Pitchford dwelling on her ex’s new girlfriend. Feeling inferior, she sings about stalking the “new girl”’s social media, how she seems to be better than herself in every way. Despite saying that the “new girl” is better for him, she still wishes it was her who he was with.
The song is more blues than her other tracks, with a heavier bass line and pounding beat. The tense melody adds to the frustrations of the song of struggling to move on.
