Saint Raymond has returned with a little something to whet the appetite while we wait for album number two. Treating us to four new songs on A Light That Blinds EP, due out on November 17th.

The EP stays true to what has made Saint Raymond such a hit, with gorgeous melodies and stunning lyrics. It takes just seconds on the opening track ‘Younger’, to be hooked with a delightful rhythm and lines such as; “Left myself for dead, is it something that I said?” grabbing your attention.

Throughout, there are moments that stand out, like the tense demand for lust on ‘Nightcrawling’ or the dreamy composition on ‘Last Time’ combined with it’s harrowing lyrics. ‘Last Time’ also shows off Callum Burrows’ AKA Saint Raymond, talented vocals especially on the chorus; “I don’t know why, this is gonna be the last time, gonna be the last time…”, which is enhanced with a subtle backing singer.

A Light That Blinds EP culminates with the emphatic ‘We Are Fire’. Filled with searing guitars and a chorus that demands to be sung along to at gigs, it’s catchy hook and stomping beat will be a thrilling addition to the set list. If this is a taster of what to expect on album number two, then we’re in for a treat.

It’s an EP filled with captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, showing exactly why the likes of Ed Sheeran, HAIM and more are lining up to work with the Nottingham native.

A Light That Blinds EP by Saint Raymond is out on November 14th through Never Fade Records.

Songs worth putting on repeat: ‘Younger’ and ‘We Are Fire

Verdict: 8/10
