UPDATE: Foals return with details of two new albums
Four years since Foals’ released What Went Down, it looks like 2019 is to be the year of the Foal.

Foals set a countdown on Instagram yesterday, set to end at 3pm this afternoon. Yet the band have given us an insight of what to expect when they unveiled a short video, teasing new music and title for what’ll be their fifth and sixth album. Although it is possible they decided to announce the album title ahead of the countdown reaching zero.
The video reveals that the next LP to come from the Oxford indie outfit will be called Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost. The only date given for a release is 2019. The biggest surprise is that it looks like Foals will be giving us two albums this year, with Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost being split into two parts.
This will be the band’s first release without bass player Walter Gervers, who left last year. Moving on to pastures new, the band released a statement confirming Gervers departure:
“To all our fans,
“Sadly we have to announce that our mate Water has decided to leave the band to pursue a new life. The parting has been sad but we remain firm friends. He’ll always be out brother, we love him and wish him well in his future endeavours.
“We had 12 amazing years touring together from a small postal van to the Pyramid Stage and beyond. It’s the end of a chapter, but not the end of the book.
“We want to thank him for all his time and energy and passion and we want to thank you for all your support from the early days and into the future.
“We are making new music and working on the fifth LP. It’s gonna be the best yet. Keep those ears alive.”
With the two-part album due out some time this year, Foals have already announced appearances at a host of festivals across Europe and South America, including This Is Tomorrow in Newcastle, Rock Im Park and Rock Am Park in Germany and Barcelona’s Festival Cruïlla.
With a new album out this year, it’s likely an arena tour will be announced for some point this year in between festival appearances.
